The point of open PvP mmorpgs is to put the game in the hands of the players. Be aware that player vs player games can be very dangerous, and you may find most of the world very hostile. It also means a much more immersive, interactive game. Finding the best PvP MMO isn't always about directly attacking other players though. A crafting mmorpg with a full player run economy or engaging in political power struggles can be equally brutal. Anyone in a PK mmo (player kill enabled) may be a friend or a foe but that's between you and the other player. And that's the point.
